(Probably) The first Prepared Piano Concert featuring a program of diverse pieces
(..extract from the concert leaflet..)
The innovation—unveiled in Bologna—is a prepared piano for John Cage’s works that rapidly switches
between different preparations, allowing for an immediate transition to the next piece. Developed
by technicians Roberto Valli and Luigi Lamacchia, in collaboration with pianist Emanuele Arciuli
and technician Andrea Bernardelli, the project achieves a realistic sound without the need to
physically insert objects into the strings, as is done in a standard "preparation." This enables
the piano to switch quickly between pieces and, subsequently, to shift from the "prepared"
repertoire to the standard classical one.
